Oooof. Africa strikes again

ok, so initially this was supposed to be a real blog, but what happens after the first week of real, working, fast wireless heaven in Lobatse? The wireless router dies and takes the entirety of the internet with it. You should all be in amazement that I've survived this long on intermittent internet at home (read, maybe once a day for about 5 mins, if I'm lucky) and barely a working connection for a week at work that allowed me only basic html gmail and nothing else. Seriously, I have a husband to try and keep in touch with, this is serious!

ANYWAY - it's been a hell of a month so far, great things and good things and really shitty nights when I missed Tyler and my family so much that I cried myself to sleep (read: what the hell was I thinking signing up for this Africa thing again), and at the moment I think I'm breaking up with Africa for awhile, but then I have half a bag full of African goodies to bring back and I'm probably just in the angry, I only like Americans stage of culture shock. (Thanks Mark Bartels and Dr. Schmidt for educating me about culture shock) (I'm attempting to be Amy Woodrum with the awesomely witty parentheticals here.) I'll probably get over my frustration soon.

I do have a room at the University of Botswana/UB for the next month, so that's good. I'll be hooking back up with Anne Schmidlin and Chatodd Floyd for the rest of our time together and I'll be working for Unity Dow. My time here at the High Court with Justice Newman has been definitely educational, and after I get some steady internet (Ryan and I had to walk down the road to a hotel to get internet at all, and it's freezing out, like 40's, so this isn't happening every night) I'll tell you all about the high profile extra-judicial killing case we've been working on this last little while. Judge asked Ryan and I to write our own sentencing! (He's not even going to pay attention to ours, I don't think, but he still wants it). And I've been on TV a couple of times in the courtroom. Us Whitey's stick out, especially when we're sitting in front for the whole packed courthouse to see.

Anyway, God love my husband for putting up with this crazy whim of mine to ditch him for 10 weeks, and for working so hard at home for us! (seriously, he's working like 86 hours a week, he's a BEAST! And the coolest, most wonderful husband ever)... And anyone who wants to send me email so I remember who you are, or at least remember that I'm in your thoughts, please feel free to email! Even if it's just a "Hi Annie, sorry you miss your husband and it's cold, it's 100 and hell degrees here, so hope you get back in time to sweat a little with me."

On the next adventure... Annie gets a creepy guy kicked out of the whitey hotspot, Bull and Bush, and doesn't get passion killed. WIN!
